There are three main bodies regulating gambling across Malaysia: the Royal Malaysia Police (RMP), the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC), and the Ministry of Finance (MoF). Gambling was introduced to Malaysia in the 19th century by Chinese merchants, and became common practice since this point, despite being heavily restricted. Malaysia is one such example of a country that has imposed fairly strict rules in regards to casinos, due to a blend of both secular and Islamic laws. The laws surrounding casinos and gambling differ region to region, and even country to country, depending on legal structures, cultural norms, and religious beliefs.
